James Clarence Lovings

August 16, 1928 - October 6, 2016

James Clarence Lovings was born August 16, 1928 in Burton, Washington County, Texas to John Wesley Lovings and Maggie Coleman Lovings.

"J.C." as he was fondly known, was educated in the public schools of Burton, Texas and was a graduate of Burton High School. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and began his walk with the Lord at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Burton, Texas.

In the late 1940's he moved to Galveston, Texas. In 1952 he married the love of his life Zona Carr. Later the family moved to the Mainland (Texas City) and made his home. They united with Greater Bell Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he actively served.

J. C. was employed for over 45 years with Moody National Bank where he worked as Building Service Manager. He was active in the community and served as a Boy Scout Leader; was a 50+year member of La Marque Masonic Lodge #373 F&AM Prince Hall Affiliation; and the Texas City/LaMarque Chamber of Commerce.

After a well spent life, God called his servant home to rest on October 6, 2016 in Texas City. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Maggie Coleman Lovings; his beloved wife, Zona Lovings; and siblings, Gladys Lovings, Roosevelt Lovings, Brady Lovings and Johnnie McKnight.

Left to celebrate his Victory in Jesus are his loving siblings, Raymond Lovings of Texas City, Texas, Margaret Beals of Waco, Texas and Ollie Lovings and wife, Gloria Lovings of Houston, Texas; his Godchildren, A. Regenia Randall and husband, Pastor William L. Randall Jr. and Allastair Webb; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
