James Norman Stinnett, age 78, of Madisonville, KY and formerly of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away at his residence on October 6, 2016. Mr. Stinnett was born on October 14, 1937 in Dawson Springs, KY to the late Woodrow Stinnett and Eva L. Hamby Stinnett. He retired from the Kentucky Department of Transportation after having worked with the department for 37 years. Twenty eight of those years he served as the manager of the Dawson Springs Toll Plaza and the remaining years he worked as an inspector for bridges and roads. He was a 1957 graduate of Dawson Springs High School, and he received a business college Associate Degree. He served five years in the U.S. Army and he was of the Christian faith.

Mr. Stinnett is survived by a loving companion and wife ~ Shirley Higgins of Madisonville, KY; two daughters ~ Patricia (Vince) Eiden of Crestwood, KY and Michelle (Burton) Ulrich of Paducah, KY; four grandchildren ~ Brad Eiden, Ben Eiden, Chelsea Light and Ian Freitag, three great-grandchildren, Shirley’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, many close friends and family, and a Furby Shih Tsu named Bella.

Preceding Mr. Stinnett in death were his parents, his wife ~ Renate Kraack Stinnett (departed 9-30-2002), and a daughter ~ Angela Faye Stinnett (departed 4-23-1983).

Visitation for Mr. Stinnett will be on Saturday, October 8, 2016, from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at 1:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, KY with the Rev. Donnie Howton officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Military rites will be presented at the Rosedale Cemetery by the Hopkins County Honor Guard.
