Hank was born to Edna Leaona (Miller) and Henry Ralph Walters, Sr. His family first moved to Greeley, Colorado, then to the Riverton, Wyoming, area in 1938. Hank attended the two-room school house in Arapahoe through 8th grade and later graduated from Shoshoni High School. He then enrolled at Northwest Community College in Powell, Wyoming, on a basketball scholarship. He left college early to be closer to Reva, the love of his life, until they were married on May 29, 1949. The young couple settled in Riverton and raised their four children. Hank worked in oil field sales for Johnson Testers and Smith Energy, managed Teton Hotel, and owned and operated a pub in Kemmerer. Eventually he and Reva operated Subway stores in Arvada and Boulder. Hank was an avid golfer and gardener, and enjoyed bird hunting, playing cards, learning about history, spending time with family and friends and bird watching on the back deck.

Survivors included: children Rick and his wife Kim, Rod and his wife Becky, ReAnn Walters and Joyce Hachen and her husband Dan; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; and siblings Ken Walters, Donnie Walters and Marian Jenness. Preceding were siblings Robert “Lefty” Walters and Eldeen Bennett and daughter-in-law Katrina Walters. Celebration of life held on October 15th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2100 N Wadsworth Blvd in Lakewood. Memorial contributions made to American Lung Association, Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 7000, Albert Lea, MN 56007-8001.
