James “Jim” Albert Brown of Hebron, NE was born June 8, 1945 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Earl and Martha(Jordan) Brown. Jim departed this life peacefully on Wednesday October 5, 2016 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital at the age of 71 years with his wife Jean at his side.

Jim grew up in the Ottumwa area and graduated from the Ottumwa High School with the class of 1963. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from August 5, 1963 to August 4, 1969. He then went to work in Cedar Rapids, IA for Collins Radio. In 1969 he was transferred to Richardson, TX to Collins Radio. In 2001 Jim retired and he and Jean moved back to Jean’s home town of Hebron, NE.

He married Jean Christensen January 19, 1968 at Eastridge Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, NE by Rev Tom Huxbable.

He was a very ardent sprint car race fan, so they traveled many years to Knoxville, IA to the Spint Car Nationals and other races around the country. Where no one was a strange. He enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. They had no children but both lived a very prosperous and a happy life together.

Jim enjoyed spending time with his family especially his neices and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-laws Jordan Christensen, and Larry Sparks.

He is survived by his wife Jean of 48 years, one brother David Brown of Durant, OK, two sisters; Elaine Howard and husband Harold of Des Mones, IA, and Carol Sparks of Knoxville, IA, brother-in-law Gary Christensen and wife Rose of Eugene, OR and sister-in-law Rovita Christensen of Salina, KS, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Following Jim’s wishes he was cremated. Memorial services will be held Friday, October 14, 2016 at The United Methodist Church in Hebron, NE at 2PM. Officiant will be Pastor Young Je Kim, organist Diane Smith, congregational hymns “In The Garden”, “Nearer My God To Thee”, “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art” in urnment in Hebron City Cemetery with military honors by Hebron American Legion Saxton Post #180.
