Julius J. Worcester was born in Rutland County, Vermont. He was the son of John B. and Eunice Worcester.
The Worcester family immigrated from Rutland County, Vermont to Kankakee County, Illinois. Julius would follow suit in 1856 along with his mother and sister.

Julius J. Worcester enlisted twice and served during the Civil War. He enlisted into the 42nd Illinois Infantry on August 3, 1861 for a three year term. He was wounded at Stone River, Tennessee and was order discharge on May 1, 1862. He enlisted again on March 28, 1865 into the 1st U. S. Army Corp for a 1 year enlistment. At the end of the conflict his military records state that he was deployed at Fort Delaware. This fort was located on Pea Patch Island in the Delaware River. It was used as a Union prison for Confederate prisoners of war. He Musterd Out on July 15, 1866 as a 2nd Luiet. in Washington D. C.

The 1860 Federal Census has Julius living in Kankakee County, Illinois. In 1880 he is residing in Monumental, Grant County, Oregon. The 1910 Federal Census has him, now age 69, living in Williams, Josephine County, Oregon. He is listed as working his own gold mine. He is also listed as being a widower.
In 19 he went to live at the Old Soldiers Home in Los Angeles, California. When he past away his body was transported to Toppenish, Yakima County, Washington. He was buried next to his wife, Harriet "Hattie" (Pruitt) Worcester.
