John enlisted in the US Army in 1966 and served as an aviation mechanic in Vietnam. After his discharge, he trained and worked as a tool and die maker.
His many interests include hunting, fishing, BBQ’s, bonfires, motorcycles, music, NASCAR, model trains and planes, scratch-art, photography, woodworking and whatever needed fixing.
John especially enjoyed time with friends and helping out where ever he could.
He is survived by a sister, Laura Cannata Holscher of Wisconsin and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, LeRoy Smeltzer and a sister, Donna Edwards.
An interment ceremony will be held at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
