Sturgis; Michael Raymond KIRSCH, 19, of 25874 Bogen Road, Sturgis, Mich., died Aug. 5, 2001, at the E.C.M.C. Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y., as a result of injuries sustained in a go-cart accident in Strykersville, N.Y.

He was born Feb. 12, 1982, in Joplin, Mo., a son to Daniel and Michelle (HOFFMAN) KIRSCH. Mike came to Sturgis from Indiana at the age of 7.

He had been employed at the Aqua Blast Car Wash and Dave Smith Pontiac, both in Sturgis.

A graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 2000, Mike excelled in the sport of wrestling, being a member of the team for all four years in high school and qualifying for the state tournament twice. Mike was offered a position on the U.S. wrestling team to compete in the Down Under Games held in Australia. He enjoyed time spent with his friends.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Michelle and David STEVENS, Sturgis; father and stepmother, Daniel and Natalie KIRSCH, Strykersville, N.Y.; two sisters, Samantha KIRSCH and Leeann STEVENS, both of Sturgis; four brothers, Keith BELLER of Sturgis, Billy BELLER of Ionia, Travis KIRSCH of Buffalo, N.Y., and David STEVENS Jr. of Sturgis; grandparents, Mike HOFFMAN and Kayola HERSHBERGER of Middlebury, Ind., Dean and Lynette KIRSCH of Strykersville, Mary and Phyllis STEVENS of Sturgis, and Nita and Greg ALLEN of Sturgis; great-grandmother, Dorothy TIPPY of N.Y.; a niece, Paige KIRSCH; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandmother, Marlene HAYDEN.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Hackman-Foglesong Funeral Home of Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Michael R. KIRSCH will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sturgis Wesleyan Church with Jeff HERSHBERGER and David Gardy officiating. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.

If desired, memorials may be directed to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
