Paul "Abby" J. Warner, 82, of Yeagertown, passed away at 11:19 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at William Penn.Born Feb. 3, 1934, in Long Branch, N.J., he was a son of the late Evelyn (Hardy) and Walter Warner.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter "Bill" Warner, and a sister, Iris "Sis" Keiser Royer.He is survived by: his wife, Janet L. (Moore) Warner, whom he married May 4, 1954; his sons, Rob L. Warner, of McClure, and Danny W. Warner and his wife, Lisa, of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Stephanie Cohick and her husband, Adam, of Newburg, Brittany Hunter and her husband, Tyler, of McClure, Jessica Every and her husband, Gary, of Philadelphia, Elizabeth Becker and her husband, Anthony, of Lebanon; and six great- grandchildren, Oliver and Adelaide Cohick, Owen, Brett and Jillian Hunter, and Warner Every.He was a 1954 graduate of Derry High School.Abby served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 14, 1953 to Aug. 4, 1955, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.Earlier in life, he worked in Machine Shop I at Standard Steel.He was an avid Notre Dame football fan and a fan of Mifflin County and Penn State wrestling. Abby coached midget league football for the Avenue Raiders and the Junior High football team at Lewistown.Abby was a dog lover and loved feeding and watching the birds, but he especially loved and enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Carola Beasley-Topliffe officiating.A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.Interment with VFW Post 7011 honors will take place in Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown.Memorial contributions may be made to R.O.F.F., 133 W. Walnut St., Burnham, PA 17009.
