Lillian S. Price, 92, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Carlisle Funeral Home at 2:00pm with Johnny Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.
Lillian was born on February 22, 1924. She was an employee of Mayo Knitting Mills for many years. She was a member of Penders Chapel Baptist Church.
She was born during a time when things were hard. She helped her mother Alma J. Simms in raising 5 siblings, then became a mother herself and reared 6 children of her own. As the years went by, she gladly helped raise numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. As her last hours passed we spoke of when each of us were born, how she loved and comforted everyone so much and was so proud of her babies, just as we are to her even now. We spoke of how many nights she slept in a small room with her siblings while she watched over them in their beds or on the floor. Now as I look around this small room with my siblings sleeping in chairs and on the floor, comforting and loving our mother during her last hours as she always did us from the beginning. Mama we love you! How much? A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Price, Jr.
Lillian is survived by a loving family which includes her 6 children, Thomas (Tee) Salter, of Germany, Evelyn (Bonnie) G. Futrel, of Richlands, NC, William (Bill) Salter, of Rocky Mount, James (Jimmy) Price, of Tarboro, Patricia (Sue) Nichols, of Tarboro, Nancy P. Andrews, of Tarboro; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren and 1 great great-great grandchild.
