CUBA - Francis C. Routier, 89, of Cuba, passed away peacefully Monday (Sept. 26, 2016) at his home.
Born on May 25, 1927, in Rochester, he was a son of Charles and Regina Morse Routier. On June 26, 1948, at St. Helen's Church in Rochester, he married Nylda Marie Atkinson, who predeceased him Nov. 25, 1999.

Mr. Routier was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946, and was stationed at a base in Key West, Fla. He was employed as a professional firefighter for the city of Rochester for 35 years, retiring as a lieutenant.
He was a longtime member of the firefighters' union, and he enjoyed the outdoors.

Surviving are four children, Nylda Marie Lewis and Robin Lowe, both of Greer, S.C., Ralph (René) Routier of Seattle and Theresa (George) Latta of Inman, S.C.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Greene of Chili; one brother, Richard (Laurie) Routier of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by six brothers and sisters, Doris Noga, Jean Wyant, John Routier, Louis Routier, Robert Routier and Patricia Leckinger.

The family will be present to receive friends from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Monday (Oct. 3, 2016) at St. Mary of the Angels Church, 202 S. Union St., Olean. A memorial Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the church. The Rev. David Tourville, associate pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
