Cab graduated from Merrill High School in 1936. On Sept. 21, 1938, Cab and Pearl J. Harms were united in marriage at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. They made their home in Merrill where Cab worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He enlisted in the United States Navy on Dec. 12, 1942. He trained as a marine diesel mechanic, received an Assault Boat Training Certificate and was honorably discharged on Aug. 12, 1944, having attained the rank of Motor Machinist's Mate Second Class. Following the war, they made their home in Merrill where Cab owned and operated Brunstedt Motor Service for over 50 years. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Pearl of Merrill; a daughter, Sally Kass of Le Mars; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Arnold "Rusty" Brunstedt, and a sister Charlotte Benderman. Funeral services Friday at St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill, with the Rev. Dr. Klaus Raab officiating. Burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, with Military graveside honors.
