Mary Ellen Sowell Stubbs, age 86, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Magee General Hospital.

Visitation will be held at Tutors Funeral Home from 5pm until 8pm on Thursday, October 6, 2016. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 7, 2016, at 2pm, in the chapel at Tutors Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sharon Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Stubbs was born on November 19, 1929 to J.E. and Ruby Sowell. For 46 years, she was employed with State Guaranty Bank and Trustmark National Bank retiring as Branch Manager. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and the T. J. Burnham Sunday School Class. Over the years, Mary found great joy in hosting and planning family holidays and reunions, and she especially enjoyed watching 8mm family movies at Christmas.

Mrs. Stubbs is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert L. "Shorty" Stubbs, parents J.E. and Ruby Sowell, sisters Dorothy Stuard and JoAnn Coleman, and a niece, Cathy Coleman Jones. She is survived by a niece, Jean Stuard, nephews Mike Coleman, Jimmy Stuard, Tyler Jones, and Debbie Clyde, cousin. She is also survived by the loving family of her late husband.
