Funeral Service for Curtis H. Carlson, 72, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. William Schruba officiating. Organist will be Mona Greseth with soloist Cindy Marohl. Pallbearers will be Dale Carlson, Christ Anderson, Sherman Peterson, Allen Peterson, Rick Biggs, and Tim Farmen. Honorary Pallbearer will be Lyle Farmen. Visitation will be held Sunday, April, 6, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with family present at the Cahill Funeral Chapel and one hour before services on Monday at the church. Interment will be at the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. In Lieu of flowers memorial to Tekawitha Nursing Center Foundation.

Curtis Harold Carlson was born May 18, 1941 in Roberts County, SD to Elder and Lillian (Jacobson) Carlson. He attended grade school through 8th grade at the Enterprise Township #4 and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1959. He worked on the family farm. On January 3, 1966 he married Janice Laubach and they made their home in Sisseton. Curtis worked with Christ Anderson doing vehicle mechanics. He then worked for Kermit Pederson doing electrical and plumbing until 1974 when his father died and they moved to the family farm and he did farming, and worked for LaVerne Fisher. In the late 80’s he worked at the US Dept of Agriculture in the statistics department until May 2009 when he had a stroke. Curtis entered in to Tekawitha Nursing Center following his stroke. He liked to collect farm toys and teapots. He loved polka music, gardening and fishing. He loved his grandchildren, visiting and having coffee. Curtis passed away at Couteau des Prairies Hospital April 3, 2014.

Curtis is survived by his wife Janice Carlson of Sisseton, SD; two daughters Dawn and husband, Kevin Hrncir of Sisseton, SD and JoAnne and husband, Donnie Armstrong of Carver, MN; one son DuWayne Carlson of Peever, SD; grandchildren Luke Hrncir of Sisseton, SD; Donnie Armstrong, Lillie Armstrong, and Audrey Armstrong all of Carver, MN.
