Greenwood SC - Roy Fuller Dellinger, Sr., 84, resident of 104 Hutira Lane, husband of Betty Griffin Dellinger, died September 28, 2010 at his home. Born in Greenwood, December 6, 1925, he was a son of the late Roy L. and Elsie Culbreath Dellinger. He was a 1943 graduate of Thornwell High School where he played on the state championship football team of 1942. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, where he served in the Pacific Campaign on the USS Hank. After the war, he attended Lander College and Piedmont Technical College. He retired from the Greenwood Commissioners of Public Works as superintendent of the electrical department, with 32 years of service. Mr. Dellinger was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church, where he formerly served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon. He was also a member of Greenwood Masonic Lodge No. 91, the V.F.W. and the IEEE. Roy was a loving and devoted husband to Betty for 62 years and the father of three devoted children. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters, Toni and husband Donny Justus of Ninety Six and Terri and husband, Abney Coleman of Greenwood; a son, Chip and daughter-in-law, Cathy Dellinger of St. Petersburg FL; three grandsons, Chip Justus and wife Jessica, Chad Dellinger and Abney Coleman; two granddaughters, Carly and Casey Dellinger; a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Sue Hudson, Carolyn Johnson and Patricia Bradley and brothers, Dennis and Leigh Dellinger.
