Sarah June Standley, age 67, of Peoria, after bravely battling cancer twice in her life, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born to Joe Hooker and Edith (Winn) Standley on June 11, 1949, in Koshkonong, MO.
Sarah is survived by her brother, Ted Standley of Koshkonong, MO; sisters, Dorthy Hutchison of Thayer, MO, Muriel (Frank) Elser of Cherokee Village, AR, Ruth (Pete) Martin of Willow Springs, IL, Mary Fraley of Batesville, AR, Brenda Janes (Edi and Evey) of Peoria and Vicki (Dennis) Arnold of Peoria; aunt, Eva Harper of Thayer, MO; sister-in-law, Kay Standley of Shellknob, MO; one very special friend, Lindel "Link" Norris of Peoria; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold "Gene" Standley and James Paul Standley; sister-in-law, Esther Standley; brothers-in-law, Roger "Dan" Fraley and Roy Hutchison; and stepfather, Lawrence Janes.
After graduating from college, Sarah moved to Hollywood, FL, where she lived for over 20 years before moving back to Peoria in 1993.
A visitation for Sarah will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home in Peoria. Burial will be held in Koshkonong, MO.
