Vera Vay Stevens
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." (Psalm 116:15) Vera Vay Stevens, a Baton Rouge native and resident died Sunday, July 1, 2012, at the age of 85. She loved her family and church (Oakcrest Baptist), and was known for her sense of humor and ability to make a friend of anyone she met. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie S. Elliott and husband James; three sons: Kevin L. Stevens and wife Lori, Daryl K. Stevens and wife Gena, and Kary L. Stevens and wife Cindy; 9 grandchildren: Chad, Eric, Judson, Courteney, Sarah, Megan, Jayson, Tara, and Tori; and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley L. Stevens, and parents. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA on Friday, July 6, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until religious services at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Donald Davis. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
