Mary Jane Kelly, 84, of Midland, died Tuesday evening, June 9, 2015, at McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City. She was born August 28, 1930 in Larkin Township, the daughter of the late Raymond and Anna (Adamczyk) Fitak.

Mary attended Leiphart Schools, and graduated from Midland High School before marrying William "Bill" Kelly on July 24, 1954 at Assumption BVM Catholic Church.

She was known for her gardens, and she was a soft-spoken woman yet very independent. Mary had coached Women's Fast pitch Softball in the city of Midland for a number of years, herself having played at that level. Along with her husband, Mary was the founder of Kelly's Catalogue, a weekly Bay County publication for those having the need for advertising.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Kathleen Villareal of Houston, Texas, Terrence (Sandra) Kelly of Groton, Conn., David (Pattie) Kelly of West Branch, Brigid (Billy) Chacon of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mary Jane (Jon) Lane of Midland; 22 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; a brother, Steve (Anne) Fitak of Midland; and sisters, Irene Beck of Hope and Lucy Karas of Clio.

In addition to her parents, Mary Jane is preceded in death by two sons, William and Philip Kelly; daughters, Teresa Schroeder and Susan Andrews; grandchildren, Heather and Johnny Marchio; brothers, Imrich Fitak, Joseph Fitak and Charles Fitak; and by sisters, Adele Fitak and Margaret Shaddeau.

The family wishes to thank the staff at McLaren Bay Region for their exceptional care and concern for Mary Jane. A memorial mass will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015, from the Assumption BVM Catholic Church, with Fr. Joseph Griffin as celebrant.
