Marvin Howard Stockett, Sr., 93, of Berkley Springs, WV, and formerly of Crofton, MD. passed away, on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Hospice of the Panhandle in West Virginia.

Marvin was born on February 10, 1923 in Davidsonville, MD to James Benedict and EmmaVirginia (Chaney) Stockett.

During World War II, Marvin served in the both the Merchant Marines and United States Army.

He married the former Patricia Walker in Washington, D.C. on February 22, 1947.

His early years were spent as a farmer in Gambrills, MD and received the recognition of Anne Arundel County Young Farmer of the Year. Later, he was employed by Kelvin and Hughes in Annapolis. Throughout the years he drove a school bus and later ran Stockett's Bus Service. In 1991, he married May Fairall-Grove.

Upon his retirement, he and May permanently moved to their home in Berkeley Springs. He was an active member of St. Stephen's Church where he served as warden. In addition to his gardening talent, he bowled in local leagues. As a member of Indian Landing Boat Club, he helped start the junior sailing program.

Marvin is survived by his wife, May Stockett, three daughters, a son and their spouses, Barbara and Stephen Sadle of Crownsville, Jill and Jay George of Gaithersburg, Sally and Glenn Halfpap, of Crofton and, Marvin Jr. and Christine Stockett of Crownsville, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three step children and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by wife, Patricia Stockett.

Funeral services will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Crownsville on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 10:00. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
