Carol M. (Bonjour) Gentry passed quietly in her sleep on Sunday, October 2, 2016 in Lenexa, KS surounded by her 3 sons.
She was proceeded by her husband of 59 years 11 months. He died September 25, 2016.
Carol was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Henry, and a brother who died in infancy.
She was born December 10, 1936 to Chester and Harriett Grob Bonjour of Onaga, Kansas, and lived all of her childhood life in Onaga. She graduated from Onaga High School in 1954.
Carol married Howard Gentry on October 7, 1956 in the Congregational Church in Onaga.
After ten years with the Air Force they settled in Corona, California in 1965, returning to Kansas in 1985. She raised 3 sons (Ed, Larry, and Donald).
Carol worked as kitchen manager for several years in the Corona-Norco School District.
After moving back to Kansas she worked for the Shawnee Mission School District as cafeteria manager, with the Millcreek Elementary school for over 22 years, and continued after retirement helping at the senior centers in Lenexa and Merriam.
Carol was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Lenexa. She was active with food service at the church daycare and helped with the Pre-school aged children on Sundays...
Cremation is planned. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22nd at the Onaga Cemetery . Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga is in charge of arrangements.
