Jackson, SC — Mrs. Bettie K. Hughes, 83, of Baker Street, Jackson, SC, who went to be with the Lord on October 4, 2016, was a native of Murphy, North Carolina, having made Jackson her home for the past 64 years.
She was a member of Matlock Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher in the Children’s Department and was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Mrs. Hughes was a loving wife and mother who cared not only for her family, but others as she enjoyed cooking and serving them, especially her sour dough bread.
Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Paul Hughes; four daughters and their husbands: Pam and Jimmy Jones of Braselton, Georgia, Paula and Grey Brennan of Pike Road, Alabama, Denise and Woody Stallings and Kathy Smith all of Jackson; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; brother: Gerald Crisp of El Paso, Texas; sister: Janice McCombs of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Honorary Pallbearers will be member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Active Pallbearers will be Craig Blakely, Connor Blakely, Lee Stallings, Sammy Pou, Donald Paul Smith, Sean Jones, Andy Friskey and Brian Cole.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 4 until 6 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 PM at Matlock Baptist Church.
