Sophia Stechmesser, daughter of Carl Stechmesser and Julia Vogel, was a native of Two Rivers, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She was baptized Theresia Sophia Friedricke Stechmesser. Sophia married August Zermuehlen, son of Heinrich Zermuhlen and Elizabeth Hermann, on 14 May 1892 in Two Rivers. They were the parents of seven children, five of whom survived them. Sophia was widowed in 1930. She died at the age of 85 and was interred in Forest View Cemetery in Two Rivers.
