A mass is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, at St. Canice Church in Nevada City. Following the service will be a celebration of her life at the St. Canice Center Hall in Nevada City.
She was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Dec. 23, 1937, to Wallace and Iona Hodge. She spent most of her youth in Kansas City, Mo.
In 1957, she and her former husband moved to California where she worked as editor at a newspaper in Camarillo. During that time, she also enjoyed performing with the community theater, modeling and camping with her four children.
Bridgette married Mike Baker in 1979. Together they traveled the world visiting all seven continents and meeting many people who would become close friends. Bridgette enjoyed archeology, shell collecting, writing, reading, music and many outdoor activities.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mike; her sisters, Kathy and Mary of Okla.; four children, Rusty (Judy) Vaughn of Grass Valley, Calif., Robin (Ron) Riggenbach of Waynesville, N.C., Debra (Brian) Court of Nevada City, Calif., and Buck (Leslie) Cox of Tampa, Fla.
She also is survived by five stepchildren; 29 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many friends and extended family members.
Bridgette was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Eunice and Wanda; and two brothers, Wallace and Buddy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to the Hospice of the Foothills in Grass Valley.
