John F. (Jack) Roney passed away peacefully at his home in Warrington on October 3, 2016. He was 91 years old. Jack was one of the Greatest Generation. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and enhanced his country’s defense throughout a career in satellite communications. He was an engineer for 45 years, 36 of those with General Electric’s Missile and Space Division. He was in America’s first cadre of aerospace engineers.

Jack was born in Philadelphia, September 9, 1925, to Frank and Elizabeth Roney. He graduated from Northeast Catholic High School. He did his undergraduate studies in electrical engineering at Villanova University and Penn State and graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania.

He served his community, as well as the nation. Jack served for 17 years on the Warrington Municipal Authority and, after his retirement from GE in 1992 was a three-day-a-week volunteer tutor of math and sciences at Archbishop Wood High School.

His passions were his God, his family, history and literature, being Irish, Penn State football, Villanova basketball, and Wood everything.
