Jon Lohman Burks, devoted father of Jon Franklin and Linzi Burks, died suddenly of a heart attack at 50 years of age on October 3, 2016; he was born July 27, 1966. Undeniably, Jon would say that his greatest contribution to this world, was his children, whom he cherished more than anything on the planet.

Jon grew up in Jackson, TN, attended Old Hickory Academy and graduated from Jackson-Central Merry High School. He also attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and, ultimately, graduated from MTSU. Though his life was cut short, those who knew him well would say that he lived life with a spirit of adventure and fun rivaled by few. Well known for his sense of humor, Jon loved to laugh, play pranks, and bring a smile to the face of others. He also was quick to help, kind and very protective of his family.

Jon's zest for living was evident in his career and hobbies. He was a gifted salesman/businessman, an avid outdoorsman, a loyal Tennessee Vol, and a volunteer deputy for the Williamson County Sheriff's Department. More than anything, though, Jon spent the last 16 years of his life devoted to his children. He waited at their school every morning to give them a hug and an "I love you" before the day began; he was an adored parent volunteer who regularly pitched in with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. Truly, his affection for Jon Franklin and Linzi was evident in every facet of his life.

Jon was preceded in death by his grandfathers, JT Burks and Merle Lohman, and his grandmother, Opal Lohman. In addition to his children, Jon is survived by his mother, Judy Truex Reed; his father, Neal Burks; his sister, Jil (Brent) Cooper; his beloved nephew Will and niece Amanda; and friends too numerous to count.

Funeral service will be 11:00AM Thursday, October 6, 2016 with visitation from 9:00AM – 11:00AM prior to the service at WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 615-794-2289. www.williamsonmemorial.com
