PState of Alabama Pickens County, to wit:
On this the 28 day of May 1863 personally appeared before me the subscriber, a justice of the peace in County and State aforesaid, Mrs. Nancy D. McGahey, who, after being duly sworn according to law, deposith Says that She is the wife of James J. McGahey deceased, who was a private in Capt. Belsher's Company ("H") 5th Regt.
Alabama Volunteers, commanded by Col. Hobson in the service of the Confederate States, in the present war with the United States, thus, the said James J. McGahey entered the Service at Antioch in Pickens County, in the State of Alabama on or about the 27th day of March 1862 and died of disease on or about the 19th day of September 1862 while a prisoner in the hands of the Enemy, at Frederick City, Md., leaving herself, (the wife) entitled to receive the claim for her husband's Services; that Nancy D. McGahey makes the deposition for the purposes of obtaining from the Government of the Confederate States whatever may have been due the said
Jas. J. McGahey at the time of his death for pay, bounty or other allowances for his services as private aforesaid.
