Funeral services for Sylvia L. Ekberg will be held Tuesday, October 04, 2016 at the Estes Brook Evangelical Free Church at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Sylvia Lois Ekberg, age 92, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Foley Nursing Center. Sylvia was born March 4, 1924 in Mille Lacs County, Minnesota to Peter and Rhinie (Brink) Kiel. She attended District 6 School in Mille Lacs County through the eighth grade
She married Lawrence "Bob" Ekberg on October 24, 1942.
Sylvia loved baking and cooking for the people she loved and for everyone she met and became friends with. She loved every child and enjoyed taking care of many of them. Throughout her life, she worked at Fingerhut in Princeton and St. Cloud, The Garment Factory in Milaca and alongside her husband on their dairy farm in Oak Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence “Bob” in 1997; her parents, Peter and Rhinie Kiel; and her sister, Lorraine Teutz.
