Doris was born on August 27, 1929 to the late Paul and Beatrice (Hunter) Schave Sr. Doris and Nathan Kaufman were united in marriage on September 24, 1949 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Hope, Michigan.
Doris was a lifelong resident of the Port Hope area and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she had been a member of the choir and a Sunday School teacher. She attended St. John’s Lutheran School and graduated from Port Hope Community School. Before her marriage, she worked for Unell Mfg. and then alongside her husband on their farm. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing cards, dominoes and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many will fondly remember her abundant home-cooked meals and baked goods that fed family, friends and her church family.
Doris is survived by her husband of 67 years: Nathan Kaufman of Port Hope.
Siblings: Leroy (Alice) Shave and Phyllis (Elwin) Will.
Brothers and Sisters-in-law: Deanna Schave, Hugh Harwood, Norma Johnson, Bernard and Geneva Cregeur.
Son-in-law: Arnie (Mary) Eggert.
Grandchildren; Jennifer (Brian) Iseler, Jodi (Rob) Porzandek and Casey Eggert.
Great Grandchildren: Jadyn, Tori and Brady Iseler, Dylan and Mason Porzandek.

Doris was preceded in death by: Daughters-Carol Kaufman and Diane Eggert.
