Thomas W. Baker, age 89 of Murphysboro, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Thomas was born April 4, 1927 in Paris, IL the son of Floyd and Violet (Williams) Baker. He married Ruby Sanders on April 3, 1951.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy during WWII. He worked at Capital Aviation for many years and Fiat-Allis Manufacturing. Thomas loved to tinker with things and worked with his hands. He attended First Christian Church in Murphysboro.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Ruby Lorene Baker of Murphysboro; daughters, Ann Lahr of Pleasant Plains, IL, Glenda (Brad) Smith of Finger, TN, Lisa (Terry) Jones of Jacksonville, FL; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother; 3 sisters.
Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home in Carbondale-Murphysboro.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, October 3, 2016 at the funeral home with Rev. Rick Sutton officiating. Interment will follow in Murdale Gardens of Memory with full military honors accorded.
