Hulda was the oldest child of Gottlieb & Henrietta (nee Lieske) Ellerman. She was born in Chotinka, Russia in 1863. She married August Waldbauer about 1889 in Kostopol, Russia. They had 2 children while living in Russia. Their 3rd child was born in Liverpool, England just prior to boarding the ship to Canada in April 1893. They travelled with August's parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Hulda's parents had come to Canada the year prior. They had 4 more children born in Canada. They farmed near Neudorf, Sask. Hulda was often called upon to act as a midwife. She died as a result of complications due to gall bladder October 2, 1940 and was buried Oct 4 (church records).
