Marion L Moreland, 82, of Peoria passed away at 1:30 pm Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Liberty Village of Peoria.

He was born November 2, 1933 in Peoria, the son of Ira and Marie Otto Moreland. He married Donna Graves on February 23, 1957.

Marion is survived by his wife of 59 years; one daughter, Kristy (Stanley) Freeman of Urbana; one sister, Joyce Bessler of Sparland; one brother, Kenneth (Linda) Moreland of Tucson, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two daughters, Sandy Moreland and Julie Moreland.

Marion was a Steamfitter for Local 353 for over 50 years. Marion held various position including teaching in the apprenticeship program. He worked at Natkin Service Co for several of those years. After retirement he worked at Polar Supply Corporation.

He was a Korean War Navy Veteran. Marion was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, VFW Post 2602 in Peoria Heights and American Legion in Peoria Heights. He was also a volunteer at Unity Point Health Methodist and the Red Cross, as well as a member of the Redeemer Luther Church and Lutheran Hillside Village Garden Clubs.

Funeral services will be 11am Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Pastors Ted Benson and Ron Miller will officiate.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
