Peter Astrup, 92, Moorhead, Minnesota, died on Sunday, October 2, 2016 in the Ecumen Evergreens of Moorhead.

Peter Miller Allen Astrup, Jr. was born on October 14, 2002 in Grenora, North Dakiota, to Peter and Emma (Halverson) Astrup, Sr. He grew up and attended school at Williston, North Dakota, and moved to rural Dilworth, Minnesota in 1937 graduating from Dilworth High School in 1942.

He farmed with his father until 1948 when he took over, raising sugar beets and small grains until he retired in 1976. Peter was an avid pilot who got his pilot's license in 1963. He owned and flew a variety of small planes until he retired hi wings in 1986.

Pete married Carol Crowder on April 27, 1952 at Moorhead, Minnesota. They lived on the farm until retiring in 1977, when they built a home on Pelican Lake, near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, and in 1989 they moved to Moorhead where they have lived since. They spent winters in Arizona for many years.

Pete was a charter member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Moorhead, and also belonged to the Rotary Clubs in Moorhead and Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, as well as C-400.

He was a talented artist who worked in wood and metal, creating many works of art for family and friends.

Peter is survived by his wife, Carol; sons Michael (Pamela), Peter III (Nancy); daughters Diane (Robert) Scalese and Sandra (Doug) Ustick; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Justin, Edwin and Herbert; sisters-in-law Beatrice Astrup, Bea Astrup, Patricia Crowder; brothers-in-law Donald Gulsvig and Thomas Crowder.
