Mercy Air pilot Paul Latour was a man who loved camping and dirt-biking, and whose own son followed him into the military. He developed a love for flying in the military, and when he retired, immediately sought out a job flying Mercy Air helicopters. Latour served 21 years in the Army as a helicopter pilot before becoming a Mercy Air pilot.
He was born in Long Beach and moved to Santa Barbara at age 5. Paul enlisted in the Army in 1984 his career included moves to Hawaii, Alabama for flight school, Fort Wainwright, Alaska, Fort Hood, Texas then finally back home to California at Fort Irwin. First, while wearing the uniform of a U.S. Army soldier, he used his power to save the lives of men and women fighting for our country's freedom. Then, while wearing the flight suit of the heroes in the Mercy Air Service, Paul worked tirelessly to save the lives of Southern Californians. But Paul was more than a hero to just the people whose lives he saved. He was 46.
