James Edward Selleck, age 86, of Duluth, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born June 26, 1923 in Duluth to James Edward and Alice (Gruel) Selleck. Jim attended Duluth public schools. He married Edna Olsen in Superior, Wis. on Dec. 28, 1943. Jim was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked at the CCC Camps, sailed the Great Lakes, was employed by Gamble Robinson, and was a Duluth City Firefighter, retiring from the Fire Dept. in 1985. Jim enjoyed cooking, fishing, playing cards, and golfing. Jim was very devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all of them. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Dorothy Berg and Alice Wagner; brother John "Jack" Selleck; grandson Aaron Selleck; and son-in-law Edward "Fred" Frederick. Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years Edna; son Michael (Un-Hye), daughters Linda Frederick, Patricia (Richard) Levy, and Rene Selleck: grandchildren: Jennifer (Greg) Lomas, Christopher Selleck, Ann Levy, Rachel Levy, Kali Frederick, Lynne Frederick, David Pak and Joshua Pak; great-grandchildren Madeline Lomas and Bailey Frederick; his special friends Larry and Barb Kallberg and family; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Monday at Dougherty Funeral Home, continuing on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Peace United Church of Christ, 1015 E. 11th. St. Memorials to the National Kidney Foundation, 1970 Oakcrest Ave., Suite 208, St. Paul, MN. 55113 are preferred by the family. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. Second St., Duluth, 727-3555.
