Mr. Atkinson was a life resident of Gas City. He married Marcia A. Hewitt in 1966; she survives. Mr. Atkinson retired from the VA Northern Indiana Health Care Systems in 1994. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, Marcia, Mr. Atkinson is survived by a son, David M. Atkinson, Tucson, Ariz.; and a stepson Brent Hall, Marion; two brothers, Beryl (Debbie) Atkinson, Gas City; Carl (Pat) Atkinson, Tenn.; one sister, Claudia K. "Kay"' (Robert) King, Gas City; one grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by his daughters, Connie K. Atkinson and Diana D. "Dee Dee" Hall; and one sister, Janice L. Gaskin.
