Betty Jean Pigg, age 94, formerly of Joplin, went to her heavenly home on Friday September 30, 2016 surrounded by her family. Betty was born August 8, 1922 in Galena, Kansas to the late Russell H. Schaeffer and Leota B. Mast Schaeffer. She graduated from Galena High School and shortly after got married. Betty was a tremendous homemaker and ministry partner with her husband, John who pastored in the Assemblies of God throughout the years. On February 8, 1942, Betty married John. L. Pigg, Sr. in Carthage, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2002. Additionally, a son, John L. Pigg, Jr.; one granddaughter and one great great-granddaughter has preceded Betty in death also. Survivors include daughters, Kathy McGinthia and husband, Jim of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Patricia Musgrove and husband, Charles of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sons, Gary Pigg of Joplin, Michael Tudor of Neosho; seven grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren. Graveside services are planned for Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Osborne Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7-8:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
