C. Dean Clark, 86, formerly of Lewiston, died Monday, December 12, 2005 at his home in Beatrice. He was born November 29, 1919 at Beatrice, Nebraska and attended Lewiston Consolidated School, graduating in 1937. He attended Junior College

in Fullerton, California, 1938-1939 and Peru State College, 1939-1941. Dean served in the U.S. Army Air Force from Sept.1942-Feb.1946 as a Celestial Navigation Trainer Instructor, stationed at Tonopah AFB in Nevada and McChord Field in Washington. On June 7, 1944 he married Harriet Maxwell in Omaha, NE. After the war, Dean & Harriet returned to the family farm near Lewiston and farmed until moving to Beatrice in 2004. The Clark family received the Ak-Sar-Ben Pioneer Family Award in 1982, which recognizes Nebraska families who have continuously owned and operated farmland for over 100 years. Dean was a member of the Lewiston School Board for 3 terms, holding several leadership positions. He was a lifelong member of the Lewiston United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a lay leader for many years and was, at the time of his death, a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Beatrice.

Survivors include, wife: Harriet of Beatrice; children: Janet Trout and husband Kenneth of Crab Orchard, NE, Paul Clark and wife Dottie of Manhattan, KS, Meredith Smidt and husband Roger of Filley, NE, Brian Clark and wife Beverly of Lincoln, NE; 7 grandchildren: Neil Trout & wife Julie of Omaha, Jenny Prinsen & husband Andy of Rushford, MN, Bert Clark of Wichita, KS, Brian Smidt & wife Mandy of Pella, Iowa, Erin Sieh & husband Tim of York, NE, Laura Clark and Emily Clark of Lincoln; 4 great grandchildren: Taylor and Katie Trout of Omaha, Aaron & Ryan Prinsen of Rushford, MN; brother: Ronald Clark and wife Doris of Hillsboro, OR; sister in law: Dee Hughes of Lincoln, NE; 7 nieces and 7 nephews. Preceded in death by grandson Jeffery Trout (1994); Parents, Chester & Dora (Moulton) Clark.

Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 16, 2005 at the Centenary United Methodist Church, Beatrice. Burial: 9:30 A.M. Friday at the Lewiston Cemetery (Family and Friends Welcome). Visitation: Harman-Wright Mortuary, Thursday, 8 A.M. to 9 P.M. Family will greet friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Thursday evening. Memorial is established to the Lewiston Consolidated School Foundation, Beatrice Community Hospital Hospice, or the Lewiston Cemetery Association.
