Mary Jane Galer's list of persons interred in the New Cemetery area of Linwood shows: Mrs. Frances J. BETHUNE, female, died aged 77 years of "nervous decay"; buried 20 DEC 1898 in Section A, Lot 1315 - Sexton Jesse A. BEARD.
Daniel Olds' index of deaths, AUG 1890 to DEC 1918, from the Muscogee County Death Register, on file with the Muscogee County Health Department's Office of Vital Records, shows: Frances J. BATHUNE [sic], White female, died 18 DEC 1898, aged 77 years.
[Despite appearances, this database does not establish that someone died in Muscogee County. Analysis indicates that the database includes information on persons who were buried at one of the Columbus municipal cemeteries, whether they died in Muscogee County or elsewhere, and usually excludes persons who died in Muscogee County but were buried at a site other than one of the Columbus municipal cemeteries.]
The 1880 federal census of Talbotton (Militia District 865), Talbot County, Georgia, Dwelling #1 / Household #1 (all BETHUNE, all birthplaces GA except +): Marion (64) married, lawyer, father born in Scotland; wife Jane F. (59) married, keeping house, mother born in Virginia; son Augustus D. (27) single, farmer; son Benjamin P. (23) single, farmer; son Alfred L. (21) single, farmer; son Walter M. (19) single, farmer; daughter Cornelia M. (17) single, at school.
This grave is probably not identifiably marked. Note that there is no Lot 1315 in Section A, nor in any section of Linwood, so she is either in a different lot in Section A, or that designation could be in error as well.
