Mary E. Norbury, 90, Independence, MO, passed away Monday, April 12, 2004, at Hidden Lake Care Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel. Burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Broadview Christian Church or to the Ararat Shrine Temple Wings of Mercy. Mary was born February 9, 1914, in Burlington, IA, to Orla C. and Clara O. (Miller) Maynard, and had lived in this area most of her life. She was a 1932 graduate of Paseo High School and a 1936 graduate of Research Hospital's School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse at Research Hospital until she retired in 1979. She was a member of the Broadview Christian Church, its Sunday School Class, and the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of Research Medical Center's Auxiliary, the Grandview Shrine Ladies Auxiliary of Ararat Shrine Temple, and the Golden VIPs. She was preceded in death by her husband Mark G. Norbury in 1984. Survivors include two daughters and spouses, Martha S. Schmidt, Independence, MO, and Barbara Bellamy, Denver, CO; four sons and spouses, Terry Norbury, San Francisco, CA, Joe Norbury, Kansas City, KS, Steve Norbury, Ruidosa, NM, Tim Norbury, Hume, MO; brother Robert Maynard, Overland Park, KS; 16 grandchildren; and 17 greatgrandchildren.
