William W. "Willie" Hull, 74, of Garden City passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at the Stanton Nursing Center in Stanton. Masonic Graveside Rites, by Staked Plains Lodge, A.F.&A.M., of Big Spring, will be at 4:00 PM Saturday at the Garden City Cemetery in Garden City, Texas. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 PM Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Willie was born on October 20, 1932, in Martin County, Texas to the late Orby William and Alma Childers Hull. He was raised and educated in the Stanton area, moved to Christoval in 1946, where he graduated from high school. Willie was in the Naval Reserves, attended San Angelo College, and graduated with a BA degree from SMU in Dallas.
Willie returned to San Angelo and joined the Edwards brothers, Connie and Bill, in their first business adventure, "Edwards Petroleum Company". Later they moved their offices to Big Spring, Texas where he met and married his wife, Rita Harrington. Willie continued to work for Connie Edwards, his boyhood friend, until retirement.
Known as a gentleman and a scholar, Willie enjoyed life and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Christoval Lodge 901, A.F.&A.M. for almost 50 years, and his hobbies and interests were too numerous to name. A talented musician, Willie loved music and entertaining. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed by all.
Willie is survived by his wife: Rita Hull of Garden City; daughter: Kyrenea Hull of Big Spring; 2 sisters: Hazel Ann Vautrin of Ft. Worth, Texas and Myreta Buckholt of Pasadena, Texas; 3 nephews: Bill Repman of LaPorte, Texas, Mark Repman of Rockwall, Texas and Jim Hayworth of Termo, California; 3 nieces: Sandra Moore of Benecia, California, Carla Ayers of Grass Valley, California, and Michele Buckholt of Port Isabel, Texas; numerous great nephews and nieces; and numerous great great nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by 1 brother: Elton Hull; 1 sister: Evelyn Hayworth; and 1 grandson: Matthew Webb.
Honorary pallbearers will be Connie Edwards, Johnny Gonzales, Tex Edwards, John Currie, Jimmy Moore, Marvin Boyles, Larry Webb, Bob Wegner, Juan Martinez, Doc Sutton, Tommy Coats, Arturo Colunga, and Albert Leos.
The family suggests memorials to the donor's favorite charity.
