LIVED ON CHAMBERSBURG STREET IN THE HOUSE ONCE LIVED IN BY THADDEUS STEVENS. MARRIED TO MARY. TENDED TO MANY OF THE WOUNDED FROM THE BATTLE AT GETTYSBURG. BORN IN GETTYSBURG, PA. RECEIVED HIS M.D. DEGREE 1849 FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF PENNA. DEGREE IN A.M. FROM GETTYSBURG COLLEGE 1875.

Obituary from the New Oxford Item, Friday July 7, 1899

On Monday, Dr. Robert Horner, a well-known and highly respected citizen of Gettysburg died from the effects of a stroke of apoplexy, at his home in Gettysburg. He received the stroke about half past eight o'clock, Friday evening, and was conscious for about an hour and relapsed into unconsciousness, in which state he remained until he died, aged 73 years, 8 months and 8 days.
Dr. Horner was a son of Dr. David Horner, was a physician who practiced in Gettysburg for many years. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1849, and ever since has been practicing in Gettysburg.
After the battle of Gettysburg, Dr. Horner acted as a special surgeon, U.S.A.
