My name is Caryl Gourley Cates. I’m an avid family genealogist from Rolla, MO. Deliza Gourley is my 3rd Great Grandmother. Her Gourley descendants that I hail from live in Houston, Mo and Rolla Mo. SHE IS MY Grandpa George Gourley’s great Gma.
I have had trouble finding out anything about Luvica “Vicy” Carroll. I knew from her son, Franklin Dixon Gourley’s writings that she was born in North Carolina. I was so very glad to find her headstone.
I did not put maiden names on the children listed above. All of Mrs. Carroll‘s children were born years prior to her marriage to William S Carroll. Her name was King when she married him. I have no idea if it was a previous married name, and so the children’s last name would be King, or if it was her maiden name and she lived with him for many years without being married. That remains to be ferreted out through further research.
