John Dee was born November 22, 1946, in San Saba, Texas, to Prentis and Vada Moray (White) Sturdivant. He was a highly decorated United States Navy Seal from 1964-1972 in Vietnam. John Dee was the former director of maintenance for Denver City I.S.D. and Olton I.S.D. In 1994, he married Letisia Cortez in Denver City. Moving to Fieldton in 1998, John Dee was a loving and giving person. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand, expecting nothing in return. A cowboy at heart, he loved animals, especially horses. Hunting, fishing, and making birdhouses were some of his favorite pastimes.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sarah Morris.
Survivors include his wife, Letisia Sturdivant of Fieldton, a son, Prentis James Sturdivant of Denver City, two daughters, Sonya Dee Sanchez and husband, Manuel of Denver City and Christina Aguilar of Denver City, three brothers, Prentis Bee Sturdivant and wife, Linda of Hobbs, N.M., Bobby Ray Sturdivant and wife, Robbie of Lubbock, Billy Reed Sturdivant and wife, Donna of Midland, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was blessed with eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
