Gregory was born May 28, 1947 in St. Paul, MN to Arnold and Marcella (DeRusha) Staples. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1965, Winona State College in 1969, and received his masters in Education from Winona State University in 1986. Gregory married Barbara Jean Quest on August 17, 1968 in Minneapolis, MN. In his spare time Gregory loved Hunting, fishing, ice fishing, traveling across the country, and attending his grandchildren’s activities. Gregory also was a volunteer teacher for 5th graders at Lake Louise Science, and a former 4H and Girl Scout helper and He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a firearms safety instructor, and a 4 time member of Who’s Who Among American Teachers.
He is survived by wife, Barbara Staples, Adams, MN; son Patrick (Michele) Staples, Adams, MN; daughter Amy (Jason) Hall, Farmington, MN; grandchildren Kjerstin, Korin and Erik Hall, William and Hunter Staples; mother Marci Staples, Pine City, MN; father-in-law and mother-in-law Fred & Lois Quest, Edina, MN; aunt, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his Mother-in-law Connie Quest, Father Arnold Staples, Uncle Jack Foster, Maternal and Paternal Grandparents.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday, September 27that the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams with Father Thomas Loomis officiating. Visitation will be at the Adams Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 to 7 PM and on Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
