Bruce H. Lane, 81, of Lane Road, Cassville, died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016, at his home.

Born Sept. 3, 1934, in Wood, he was the son of the late Wilmer “Hon” and Maxine (Yonts) Lane. He was united in marriage to the former Lydia Daniels Oct. 6, 1956, in Aliquippa. Mrs. Lane survives at their home.

Mr. Lane is survived by two sons, Gregory Lane and wife, Jessica, of Ida, Michigan, and Scott Lane and wife, Elaine, of Fort Mill, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Joshua, Ashley and Elizabeth Lane; and a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Lane.

He is also survived by a brother, Roger Lane and wife, Mildred, of Cape Coral, Florida.

Mr. Lane was an active member of the Cassville United Methodist Church, where he served as an adult Sunday school teacher, a trustee, a youth leader and the representative to the annual conference for eight years.

He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard and later served in active duty with the United States Army.

Over the years, Mr. Lane served on the Tussey Mountain School Board from 1961- 1963, served several terms as president of the Trough Creek Valley Lions Club and as president of the Robertsdale High School Alumni Association. He was also very active with the Huntingdon County Visitors Center, the Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce, the Huntingdon County United Way Board, the Broad Top Area Coal Miners Museum and the Salvation Army, where he helped with baking cookies and other items. Throughout his life, he was also active with the youth of the community in various capacities. He would dress and act as various characters, welcoming people to the Raystown Visitors Center.

Mr. Lane was currently serving as a Todd Township Supervisor and was the owner of Lane’s Country Homestead and Lane’s Pine Lodge, Cooks Road, Cassville. He retired in 1990 from the former Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon, where he had served 25 years in the human resources department. He had earned a number of safety awards during his employment. In his earlier years, he operated the family dairy farm.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Cassville United Methodist Church, 130 Maple St., Cassville, with Todd Christine, pastor, officiating. Interment will be made in Trough Creek Cemetery, Todd.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 20, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, Cassville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Lane may be made to the Home Nursing Agency Hospice, 9492 William Penn Highway, Suite 1, Huntingdon, PA 16652, the Huntingdon County United Way, P.O. Box 344, Huntingdon, PA 16652, or to the Cassville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1, Cassville, PA 16623.
