Bill John Powell was born in Jimtown, Oklahoma on October 2, 1930 to Tom and Velma Powell, one of ten wonderful children. He went to be with his Lord on September 21, 2016 in North Richland Hills, Texas.
During his lifetime, Bill was fortunate to meet the love of his life Betty Singletary and they were married on December 9, 1974 in Mesquite, Texas.
He was the proud owner of Powell’s Piano and Refinishing in Mesquite for over 20 years and received many accolades in his career. Bill was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Sunnyvale.
His family describes him as a hard worker who took great pride in everything he did in his life. He was a Dallas sports fanatic and loved to watch the games to cheer on his teams in his free time. Bill had an immense love for his family and was an avid storyteller.

He is survived by his son Raymond Powell and wife Jerrilyn; his step-daughter Debra Bailey and husband Michael; his step-son Johnny Littlejohn and wife Alicia; his sisters Elva Jean Caldwel and Betty Shugurt; his brother Tommy Powell; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 4-6 PM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home located at 1111 Military Parkway, Mesquite, Texas 75149. A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Chapel with a burial to follow at Laurel Oaks Cemetery in Balch Springs, Texas.
