Wilma Joyce Mills Barker, 79, of Mooresville, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Lake Norman Regional Hospital.

She was born in Statesville on August 20, 1936 to the late Homer and Hazel Hoover Mills.

Mrs. Barker was a graduate of Troutman High School and on January 22, 1954, she married Max Jarvis Barker, who survives. They enjoyed over 61 years of marriage before her passing. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved working in her yard and enjoyed planting flowers. Mrs. Barker was a dedicated housewife and served her family and friends with great joy. Humbleness and gentleness are the characteristics that will fondly be remembered.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Mrs. Robin Barker Stoupenos (Johnny) of Florence, SC and Mrs. Kim Barker Glass (Eddie) of Mooresville; three granddaughters, Mrs. Carrie Glass Beeler (Joey) of Mooresville, Mrs. Ashley Glass Sayer (Martin) of Christiansburg, VA, and Mrs. Leigh Stoupenos Copeland (Travis) of Florence, SC; two grandsons, Mr. Christopher Glass of Raleigh, NC and Mr. Matthew Stoupenos of Fort Collins, CO; one brother, Mr. Don Mills of Statesville; a great granddaughter, Kayleigh Beeler of Mooresville; and a great grandson, Macray Beeler of Mooresville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barker will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Berea Baptist Church in Mooresville with Rev. Robbie Stollger and Rev. Dwight Dowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Grassy Knob Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the church prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation, 4701 Hedgemore Drive, Charlotte, NC 28203 or to Grassy Knob Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Dennis Dowell, 1282 Myers Mill Road, Olin, NC 28660
