Robert Grey Daniel Kent was born November 18, 1888 (a) in Butts, Jenkins County, Georgia, son of Jonathan "John" Lane Kent and Anna Inora "Nora" (Gay) Kent. In the John Kent family, he is the brother of Andrew V., Marietta L., Jonathan Lane, Inora I., Annie, Marcellas, Grover C., Daisy Laura, Emma Stanley and Thomas Butler Kent.

On December 11, 1910, he married Fannie Mae Sumner in Emanuel County, Georgia. They had one child that died as an infant. Their marriage didn't last and they were divorced.

He married again to Mattie M. Bennett. In the Robert and Mattie Kent family, their 6 children are Ola 'Pauline' (1916); Robert Clinton (1917); John Henry (1919); twin boys, Claud Harden and Clifford W. (1923) and Ruth Mae (1928) Kent.

On June 5, 1917, he filed his WW I Draft Registration card (a) in Jenkins County, GA. He noted a wife (Mattie) and child (Pauline) and described himself as medium height and build with grey eyes and light hair. He was a farmer.

On November 14, 1928, Robert G. D. Kent, age 39, died close to his birthday of yellow fever in rural Millen with burial on November 17 in the Kent Family Cemetery, near Millen, Jenkins County, Georgia.
