She was born Feb. 14, 1930, to Frank C. Applegate and Grace (Hendrickson)Applegate. She married James E. Scudder on May 5, 1957, and he preceded her in death Dec. 13, 2001.
Survivors include son, Charles"Mike"Scudder of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Nikki E. Farmer; brothers, Jesse, Merrill, Francis Sr., Benny and Harold Applegate; and sister, Mildred McColley.
Mrs. Scudder was a lifetime resident of the area. She graduated from Morristown High School in 1948.
Mrs. Scudder had worked at the Walmart Supercenter since 2002. She also worked at the Finance Center at Fort Harrison for 27 years, retiring in 1990. Other places of employment include Indiana Bell and Hendricks Shell Station in Shelbyville.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Rosie was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan and loved watching sports on TV. She loved all animals, working in her yard and crossword puzzles.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating.
Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Rose Scudder Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
