His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City, with Deacon John Leonard officiating. Burial will be in Bellflower Township Cemetery in Bellflower. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. prior to the start of visitation, also at the funeral home.
Mr. Coons was born on March 20, 1921, in Saybrook, a son of Albert and Mary Mooney Coons. He married Beverly C. Provines on July 2, 1949, in Farmer City. She survives in Gibson City.
Also surviving are a son, Paul (Carol) Coons of Fisher; three daughters, Marsha (Mike) Burwash of Alberque, N.M., Sharon Gordon of Bloomington and Patti (Andy-deceased) Schreiber of Moberly, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters and a grandson, Mathew.
Anthony was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He farmed in the Gibson City area all of his life. Faith, Family and Farming.
