Bill Morris, 77, of Olton, died Friday, September 30, 2016, in Lubbock. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 3, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Olton with Brother David Azam officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors of Olton.

Bill was born January 5, 1939, in Wellington, to John and Mary (Lester) Morris and graduated from Wellington High School with the Class of 1957. He served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1959. On April 16, 1960, Bill married Jeannie Martin in Wellington. He moved to Olton in 1973 from Lubbock and was a member of First Baptist Church. Bill owned and operated Farmer's Pump in Olton from 1972-1980 and Pumpco from 1990-2016. An avid golfer and fisherman, Bill was a very civic minded person. He served on the Olton City Council and was past president of the Olton Baseball Association. A man with many nicknames, Bill had a joking and fun relationship with all his friends. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and he will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Billy Morris, Jr. in 1985, and a sister, Oletha Morrow.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jeannie Morris of Olton, his son, Jimmy Morris and wife, Tonya of Olton, his daughter, Tanya Walters and husband, Sam of Olton, and a sister, Juanita Taylor of Lubbock. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Brady Walters and wife, Micah of Olton, Carly Walters of Lubbock, Trevor Morris of Lubbock, Travis Walters and wife, Michelle of Lubbock, Bethany DeBerry and husband, Dillon of Olton, and Garret Morris and wife, Caitlin of Odessa, and four great-grandchildren: Conner, Hudson, Ellie, and Piper.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Olton Volunteer Ambulance Association P.O. Box 1087 Olton, TX 79064.
